ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), May 19, 2016 - The St. Louis Union Station Hotel, a DoubleTree by Hilton property, has won the Hilton Worldwide brand's prestigious "Connie Award" for 2015.
The Connie Award, named for the Hilton Hotel brand's founder and hospitality industry leader Conrad Hilton, is presented to hotel properties that achieved the highest ranking of quality, overall customer experience based on detailed bench mark and annual customer survey reports.
The Connie Award was delivered to the St. Louis Union Station Hotel main entrance at 1820 Market Street in historic style by horse-drawn carriage, harkening back to 1894 when St. Louis Union Station opened to the public.
An award presentation and celebration at the hotel on Thursday featured a drumline led parade along Market Street in downtown St. Louis, confetti cannon bursts and appearances by St. Louis Cardinals Fredbird and the St. Louis Blues Louie The Bear.
Following the event, Tim Cooper, general manager of the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, a DoubleTree by Hilton, enjoyed playful hugs from the sports mascots and congratulations from staff, who were wore deep purple t-shirts stating "Connie Award Winner".
"When you get ranked as one of the top 30 Hilton Hotels in the world, from all different aspects including customer service, quality scores, etc, it's pretty fantastic," Cooper stated in an interview. Looking at the staff, laughing and celebrating in the Grand Hall of the hotel, he proudly observed, "I have 320 associates and 30 managers in the building and we are thrilled to have received this honor."
Bob O'Loughlin, Chairman and CEO of Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM), the company that owns the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, said, "The Connie Award is a testament to the outstanding staff of hospitality industry professionals who strive daily to provide St. Louis Union Station hotel guests with consistently exceptional customer service. Their hard work and dedication befits the hotel's grand architecture and significant history."
In his remarks, O'Loughlin stated that he had the pleasure of working for Conrad Hilton and his son, Barron. "They led the world in hospitality and I can honestly say that it's the people who spread the warmth. And, you have done an outstanding job."
"We purchased the hotel three years ago and have the first phase done. We are looking forward to an exciting second phase. I've always said that it's one thing to fix a place up, but it's the people who bring all the customers back. I couldn't be more proud of the people we have here," he smiled, as the hotel staff cheered loudly.
The AAA Four Diamond St. Louis Union Station Hotel, a DoubleTree by Hilton,
features 539-rooms, four unique ballrooms, beautifully appointed guest rooms and specialty suites, and the elegant Grand Hall featuring an award-winning 3-D projection mapping light show and a 65-foot-long bar.
