Drury Inn & Suites-San Antonio North is Now Open
ANTONIO, TX (SLFP.com), July 2, 2004 - The new Drury Inn & Suites hotel located west of Hwy 281 on FM 1604 in north San Antonio, is now open.
The hotel is owned and developed by Drury Southwest Corporation, and operated by Drury Inns, Inc. Approximately 20-25 jobs will be created in the community with
the opening of this hotel.
Drury took the opportunity to be a good environmental citizen when it
learned that the hotel was to be built over part of an area known as the
aquifer recharge zone - where the City of San Antonio acquires its water
supply.
This development exercised great care to preserve the natural
environment at the site including its trees. The project also made
innovative use of a sinkhole feature by capturing rainwater, filtering it
and returning it to the aquifer to replenish the San Antonio water supply.
Completion of this latest hotel puts Drury Southwest in a position to now
focus its efforts on the redevelopment of the historic Aztec Theater and
Alamo National Bank building in downtown San Antonio. Drury hopes to garner
approval for the downtown project, which includes completion of the River
Walk loop. Approval by council will assure that hundreds of local jobs are secured for what will be an approximately two-year project.
"We are proud to add the 12th Drury Hotel to the San Antonio Area," stated
General Manager, Edgar Nieves. "We believe our new hotel will meet the
needs of business travelers and vacationing families looking for top quality
accommodations at a great value."
The new, 102-room hotel features free high-speed internet access in all
guest rooms and meeting rooms, an indoor pool and whirlpool, exercise room,
business center, and guest laundry facilities. A variety of room types are
available, including standard rooms with 2 queen-size beds, and 2-room
suites with private living and sleeping areas. Microwaves, refrigerators,
irons with full-size ironing boards, coffeemakers, and hair dryers are
included in every room, as well as guest voice mail.
The hotel is attractively decorated and includes an inside atrium lobby,
observation elevator and adjoining breakfast room where guests can enjoy a
free HOT! QUIKSTART* breakfast. This expansive buffet offers guests a
choice of scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, Belgian waffles,
juices, hot and cold cereals, toast, fresh fruit, milk, coffee, tea,
pastries and other assorted baked goods. Along with the breakfast, Drury's
value package includes free evening beverages and a variety of hot evening
foods for a light dinner or snack, offered daily.
Drury Inns, Inc. is a family-owned and operated system of hotels with more
than 115 locations in 17 states, from Colorado to North Carolina and from
Texas to Michigan. Brands include Drury Inn & Suites, Drury Inn, Drury
Suites, Pear Tree Inn by Drury as well as other hotels in the mid-price
hotel segment. Drury has ranked #1 among mid-price hotels again for 8 out
of the last 10 quarters in a survey of 30,000 travelers conducted by Market
Metrix Hotel Index.
