St. Charles community leaders, executives of Ameristar Casinos, Inc. and guests signed the final steel beam as they entered the casino and then headed upstairs to the conference area to get a personal glimpse of amenities that the luxurious hotel will offer.
Several spa stations were set up along the spacious hall outside the main ballroom where attendants provided comforting massages. A special station was set up for everyone to have their picture taken with TV celebrities Jay Mohr, star of Ghost Whisperer; Nikki Cox, star of Las Vegas.

John Boushy, CEO and President of Ameristar Casinos, told guests, "The new hotel and spa will feature best-in-class service and upscale amenities that will create a luxury destination resort experience for our guests in a fun and friendly environment that fully complements our gaming, dining, conference and entertainment options. Our guests have come to expect the highest quality facilities and outstanding service from Ameristar, and we intend to surpass their expectations once again," said Boushy.
After signing the steel beam, St. Charles Mayor Patti York told St. Louis Front Page that Ameristar Casinos had followed through on everything they promised. "We asked for quality and first class. It had to be the biggest and the best," said Mayor York. "If we were going to do this, it had to have the quality, otherwise, it was just going to be another entity out there. The hotel rooms are quite amazing and it's all those little touches that provide the quality."
When finished, the facility will include a 25-story, 400-room all-suite luxury hotel, a 7,000-square-foot full-service spa, an indoor/outdoor pool area with landscaped grounds and waterfalls and a 2,000-space parking garage.
In a release, Jim Franke, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Ameristar St. Charles, noted that the project has created 400 local construction jobs, and the completed hotel and spa will employ 100 new team members.
"The addition of this luxury facility in a high-demand market will also increase tax revenue and bring more visitors to St. Charles and other parts of the region," he said. "We are proud to be part of the St. Charles community and bring such a positive project to an area in which we successfully operate and already employ approximately 1,800 team members," said Franke.

The all-suite hotel at the Ameristar Casino St. Charles will feature 400 oversized rooms, dressed in a warm palette of espresso, caramel, ivory and gold. Custom furnishings include full-height leather headboards and geometrically patterned marble stone floor entries. Starwood Hotels & Resorts to Debut Microsoft Surface
St. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), June 3, 2007 - Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. will be the first in the hospitality industry to debut Microsoft Surface, Microsoft's easy-to-use, surface computing product that breaks down the traditional barriers between people and technology, providing effortless interaction with digital content.
Starwood will initially launch Surface at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Starwood's largest and most global brand, where it will help bring interaction, connectivity and play to the Sheraton brand's new lobby experience, currently rolling out in key cities nationwide. With Surface's ability to provide guests with greater service, unique experiences and new forms of entertainment, Sheraton views it as a key component of its lobby transformation.
"Through Microsoft Surface, Sheraton will offer new and engaging ways for our guests to connect with their passions while away from home," said Hoyt H. Harper II, Senior Vice President for Sheraton. "Surface puts us on the forefront of technology and allows guests to interact with each other and our hotel in a revolutionary way, enhancing their overall experience."
Microsoft Surface is a 30-inch display in a table-like form factor that several guests can use simultaneously. The intuitive user interface works without a traditional mouse or keyboard, allowing people to interact with content and information by using their hands and natural movements. Surface also features the ability to recognize physical objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. By simply setting a "tagged" wine glass on the surface of the table, a Sheraton bar or restaurant could provide guests and customers with information on the wine, pictures of the vineyard it came from and suggested food pairings tailored to the offered menu.
