Renaissance Grand to Stay Open During Foreclosure Proceedings Renaissance Grand to Remain Open During Foreclosure Proceedings
ST. LOUIS, MO (HOTELS-STL.com), January 17, 2009 - The Renaissance Grand & Suites Hotel, across from the America's Center, will be sold in foreclosure at noon on Feb. 2 at the Civil Courts Building in downtown St. Louis. The sale comes after the hotel missed an interest payment on a $98 million debt.

The Renaissance Grand Hotel opened in the spring of 2003, following a renovation of the former Statler Hotel (built in 1917) and a new addition at a cost of more than $267 million. The Grand Hotel added 913 rooms to the 165 room Renaissance Suites Hotel (formerly the Lennox Hotel), creating a Convention Headquarters hotel totaling 1078 rooms. It is owned by New Orleans-based Historic Restoration Inc. and a subsidiary of Kimberly-Clark.

The four-star luxury Renaissance Suites Hotel will remain open with full service during the foreclosure proceedings, according to Marriott, which has an agreement to manage the hotel.
